Matias Aguayo & Band - LIVE UK DEBUT!

We are proud to announce the second installment of Tender Love Soundsystem with Matias Aguayo performing with his Band in a live UK debut show at the Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen.

Matias Aguayo is not a stranger to London audiences. He has DJ-ed alongside his Kompakt label friends Michael Mayer, Superpitcher and DJ Koze and headlined nights in clubs such as Fabric and Plastic People, to name the few. After his last year's long play "AY AY AY" - voted by Bleep, Resident Advisor and many others one of the albums of the year - Matias Aguayo ventured on a quest for the ultimate street party experience, mixing house, techno, disco and pop with Latin and African influences into something that escapes all definitions, making the tag "world music" sound silly. This devotion to musical eclecticism and latin-infused romanticism in approach to songwriting won him Artist of the Year title at Bleep, around the same time as "Rollerskate" was becoming the first great dance anthem of 2010.

Described as one of dance music's most charming shapeshifters - "part beat-boxer, part whistler and moaner, part bizarre shower chanteur" (XLR8R) - Matias Aguayo is really hard to nail down. Chile-born, Cologne-bred and currently cruising between Paris and Buenos Aires - Aguayo has set up his own label, Comeme, and travelled South America with a series of spontaneous street parties known as the BumBumBox. Asking his booking agents for his current location often results in a moment of confused silence followed by: "Erm... could be anywhere now, really".

Well, we certainly know where he is going to be on the 20th of July!

This summer we're bringing Matias to London for an exclusive UK live show with his newly formed band. Make no mistake, this is the only chance to see Matias and the Band in the UK, come September the boys go back to Latin America to indulge in their own quest for the ultimate street party experience.

Who's who? Launch party line-up!

Casper C / We invited our good friends and expert dancefloor commanders, Casper C and DJ Braiden, to play alongside Tender Love on our launch party. Casper has been known on the scene for years both for his DJ and promo work, and monthly Blogger's Delight instalments which he hosts are among our favourite nights in London. Here's a press release he goes by:

Paris Social Club and Adventures In The Beetroot Field resident, Casper C also presides over the notorious Sunday club, Blogger’s Delight and has toured the world as a solo DJ and with his French Fluokid buddies, who made a name with their influential music blog. His current sets incorporate anything that jacks, from classic house to UK funky and future techno moments, a sound that has won him fans including Bugged Out, The T Bar and Fabric.

Casper also books Field Day, the hottest summer festival in London, and usually sports a thrilling mustache which has become his widely recognized (and equally envied) trademark.

DJ Braiden / AKA Steve. Long-time friend and collaborator, an individual with truly unique musical sensitivity and thrilling mixing skills. I remember when I first met Steve four years ago, and got completely hooked up on his weekly Sub.fm, heavyweight dubstep sets. Fast forward to March 2010 and, just a year after his seminal 3 deckFACT Magazine mix, I'm catching Steve playing alongside Simian Mobile Disco at Blogger's Delight, throwing a fistful of house and uk funky to a frenzied crowd, myself included. Sweat is literally dripping from walls and the vibe is almost ecstatic... What a night, and what a journey!

Steve has recently finished the Red Bull Music Academy and here's what they said about him:

Listen to Braiden throw down a three-deck mix on leading London pirate Rinse FM, or play alongside the great & the good of dubstep at clubs like Plastic People, Scala, The End and The Egg, and it’s clear that he sees music through his own unique lens. An exhibitionist described by FACT Magazine as “absurdly talented”, Braiden lives up to the hype with a mixing style that thrives on the element of surprise – he has been known to crawl Berlin’s clubs in search of undiscovered glitch- or disco-infused music from alternate universes. An avid photographer who has recently shot artist portraits for the Ministry of Sound, look to Braiden for a technicolour vision of the future of London music.

Sunday 23rd May Tender Love is launching first in the series of our monthly nights at the Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen: Tender Love Soundsystem. Think smoke machines, epic lighting and humid summer vibes brought to you by some of the finest operators on the contemporary beats scene.

With visuals provided by our secret VJ and lights courtesy of McDeath, we expect you to work your body hard and sweat like there's no tomorrow. No less.
