New residencies + video edit with Matias Aguayo & Band

Last week we played at packed In Our Blood event alongside Fantastic Mr. Fox and Brooklyn based art-band Men at Electrowerkz. This week, apart from playing a private party at Electricty Showrooms tonight, we're back at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen for another Saturday night takeover.

We're also launching two brand new residencies at Wenlock & Essex in Islington (every 3rd Saturday of the month) and Electricty Showrooms (every last Saturday), which we are really excited about - check out the lightbox dancefloors in both venues, complimented with a full-mirror ceiling at Wenlock. Impressive.

On top of that, there are two very special events we are about to announce - but before we do, check this edit from our July Tender Love Soundsystem session with Matias Aguayo & Band! Thanks to Dagny R for filming and editing.

There is no doubt - Dalston has finally landed a world-class club. Whoever went for the weekend launch of The Nest will certainly agree. We're launching a new Dalston residency on Wednesday 27th October, with support from Andrew Thomson (Huntleys & Palmers) - one of the most notorious and forward-thinking promoters in the hood. Jimmy Edgar (LIVE AV / !K7)

Lover. Fighter. Prophet. Freak magnet. Time-traveler. Musician, photographer and designer Jimmy Edgar is a wayward star-child streaking across the cosmic dance-floor. Endowed with a supernatural feel for futuristic funk, the Detroit native has been bleeping and grinding about the Milky Way since he was a teenage humanoid. While his peers were worrying about their grades and popularity, Edgar was spinning alongside his hometown's DJ heroes and programming intricate beats that were unquestionably interplanetary communication disguised as dance music.

Jimmy Edgar's "XXX" released on !K7 just a few months ago has been our favourite record of the year so far and it seems that the hype around the man himself is now reaching climax. Justifiably so. His own blend of intergalactic funk proved to be a deadly weapon, no matter where you drop it - lethal, sexually charged and masterfully executed, almost like Prince jamming with Timbaland and Egyptian Lover, if the former two had more balls!

Tender Love is bringing Jimmy Edgar back to London for his first live UK show in six months, since his appearance in Fabric alongside Magda (m_nus) in June. This time Jimmy, who's been busy touring the US and Australia, is coming with a full audio-visual performance - UK exclusive!

L-Vis 1990 (Night Slugs)

L-Vis 1990 has been on our radars ever since his massive "United Groove" release, picked up by Diplo on his Mad Decent imprint. His latest operations include setting up Night Slugs with Bok Bok, a label which "unique music policy brings you the global gutter house and heavy bass cutting edge - whether it's funky, grime, bassline, bmore, jackin' ghetto house or dubstep". Needless to say, Night Slugs is currently one of the hottest underground dance music initiatives in UK and L-Vis 1990 has been smashing clubs all over the world. Currently on tour supporting Major Lazer and Crookers in the US and Australia, he'll be back right on time for Tender Love Soundsystem.

Illum Sphere (LIVE / Fat City)

Murky dystopian atmospheres waft through any track Illum Sphere touches, but apart from that common denominator he takes things in all directions, with a sense for hip hop swing meeting two-step rhythms or subby dubstep basses drenched in nervous beats that make him quite hard to pin down. It's the kind of music that provokes reviewers to rattle of a list of comparisons that look like a particularly adventurous best-of shopping list. Apart from his remix work and his releases on Fat City, he's busy running the Hoya:Hoya club night in Manchester, giving forward thinking minds like himself a welcoming home in the city. (RBMA)

Rebolledo and Braiden at Moustache Bar!

Our friends at Huntleys & Palmers launched a tidy new website (www.huntleyspalmers.com) and to celebrate this Saturday they invited Rebolledo and Braiden to Moustache Bar. Rebolledo needs no introduction to all the people that came to see our TLLS show in July with Matias Aguayo. Definitely the fiercest operator on the Comeme imprint, one of the highlights of the recent SMS festival in Croatia. Braiden is our long-time friend and collaborator known for his technically peerless sets and refined musical taste.

This stuff is untouchable

Boom!

Just came back from Boom Festival - think European version of Burning Man but with a beautiful lake and better music - where the likes of Marcel Dettmann, Minilogue, Untold, Ramadanman and Murcof were providing soundtrack to one of the most magical festival experiences you can imagine. Think ecstasy, LSD, beautiful people and unconditional love.

Now I feel the inevitable "Boom blues" and the reality slowly creeps in as I reach to my wardrobe for a waterproof jacket after two weeks of running topless between the banging music stages and the lake. While trying to re-adjust to British weather I managed to dig out some videos that brought back the precious memories of recent past (and acid flashbacks)...



Yeah, Teengirl Fantasy nailed down that feeling pretty well, but so did John Hillcoat ("The Road", anyone?) with this beautiful video for UNKLE:



And last but not least - Aaron Kuffner's Gamelatron, a monstrous musical instrument planted in the heart of Boom Festival, producing some of the most enchanting sounds I have ever heard, perfect for a slow-burning chill-out after a day packed with action...

Last night was a blast and even though playing in the heart of Shoreditch on a Saturday night might be a bit tricky - we managed to push it a lot towards the leftfield, despite a few pleasant compromises. Thanks to the amazing staff at Hoxton Bar. Watch this space!

Tender Love starting a new residency at Hoxton Bar!

This Saturday (tomorrow) Tender Love is taking over the back room at the Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen!

Every first Saturday of the month we'll be cooking up a lethal mixture of contemporary beats music with rare selections stretching from vintage boogie funk to avant-pop and future garage, sexually explicit content guaranteed.

Kick off 8pm and it's going until 2 in the morning, free entry all night long!

Wowow! What a night it was - on a Tuesday in the middle of the festival season Matias Aguayo & Band managed to fill in the entire room! You could feel the restless tension in the air as people were gathering in the back room of Hoxton Bar. The night kicked off properly with Casper C, who played an energy-fuelled Comeme set and raised the temperature in the room to the point of boiling. Even Matias and his merry crew were impressed. Smoke machines went on full power - there was some heavy smoking in the backstage too ;) - and the three Chillean musicians came out on stage to perform their very own interpretation of dance music, LIVE. It was a compelling show with some really unique orchestrations - imagine "Rollerskate" played live in extended version and you get half the idea...

At some point, outside the back room we bumped into Romy from the xx and, slightly stunned, engaged in a short but lovely conversation. I didn't dare thinking she came to see our show, nor try to imagine the entire xx with their manager would come to the TLSS party. Turned out they did! Shortly after Matias went on stage, the xx's manager came up to Phoenix - our precious door girl - and asked if he and the band could come in to see the performance...
